What’s better than piles and piles of books? Puppies!
What’s better than piles and piles of books? Piles of books and puppies! Saturday afternoon, at our big book sale, we are partnering with Fostering Hope Animal Rescue Foundation and bringing in some puppies who are up for adoption. Please spread the word. These little cuties, and maybe some other furry friends, will be there! Adopt a puppy and we’ll send you home with some books to help you care for them. Stop by Shalom Friday 2 to 7 and Saturday 9 to 4
Christmas CD Fundraiser
We are offering a Christmas CD, created by Brenda McKenzie with Jabin Stevenson for a suggested donation of $20. Feel good about purchasing some gentle sounds of Christmas while supporting Shalom Counselling’s fee subsidy program! Shalom believes that all who desire counselling be able to experience it regardless of their financial status. None are ever turned away for financial reasons. *To order your copy or for more information please call (403)342-0339
National Day for Truth & Reconciliation
Since 2013, September 30th has been observed as Orange Shirt Day across the country to honour the healing journey of residential school survivors, and bring awareness to the need for reconciliation. Canadians are encouraged to wear orange shirts to commemorate the Indigenous children who were forcibly taken from their homes and placed in residential schools. The government recently passed legislation making September 30th a federal statutory holiday called the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Although Shalom's office will remain open on September 30th to serve our clients, we join in recognizing and commemorating the legacy of residential schools.
