    Support for caregivers
Shalom offers encouragement to pastors, leaders and those involved in para-church ministries who serve as the spiritual caregivers to our community. Shalom takes the time to care for caregivers so they will be refreshed, preventing burnout and encouraging the good work they do for the community as a whole. This service is offered across denominational lines by individual contact, phone consultation, and by facilitating professional development. Examples of this part of our work would include a presentation to an area ministerial group on Caring for the Caregivers, balancing home and work, or working with another area ministerial to organize a professional development day for pastors of Central Alberta.

Shalom also assists churches in equipping those well suited as caregivers for peer support to serve our community. We provide training on such topics as:

  • crisis intervention,
  • helping with grief and bereavement,
  • learning the art of listening
  • understanding people
